With an aim to augment avenues for learning, recreational activities, and arts promotion and preservation, Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF) unlocked the second, third, and fourth floors of the MTV Building Annex (New Criminology Building) at the main campus, broke ground on the new Senior High School (SHS) Building and the Tiger Sports Arena, and inaugurated the V Art Gallery at the new Liboton extension campus (beside Jimmy and Tang’s Restaurant) on January 28, 2023.
Mr. Mario C. Villanueva, NCF President, said in his message that the four-in-one affair “marks another day of acknowledging God’s blessings to NCF and to the Naga City community.”
The construction of the new criminology building and the new SHS building is a gesture by NCF to address the surge of enrollees, which is reflected in the trajectory rate of the institution. The fully air-conditioned NCF Tiger Sports Arena, with a seating capacity of 5,000, aims to accommodate a variety of sports activities, physical education performances, and other academic-related events. The V Art Gallery, on the other hand, envisions igniting the passion of aspiring artists and helping them develop and grow.
Remarked as “new milestones,” Hon. Nelson S. Legacion, Naga City Mayor, accentuated that the new facilities launched and inaugurated by the school “speak volumes of the value and commitment that you (NCF) have in providing quality education… which will mean for the students, better learning experiences and more mastery of their crafts, which will greatly aid in their further development.”
Former Vice President Leni Robredo also extended her warmest felicitations to NCF, which she considered “a pillar of our beloved home city (Naga City).” Atty. Robredo described NCF as “a haven for generations of young minds not only equipped with knowledge but also memories that guide their lifelong path forward.” She then challenged NCF stakeholders to use the new facilities as “bases for learning and collaboration in challenging young minds to become the best versions of themselves… and do so with the same dedication and excellence that has made NCF stand tall over the years.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Danilo M. Gerona, a prominent Bicolano historian, and Mr. Johnamar Salvosa, a well-known Bicolano artist, also shared their sentiments about the new milestones.
According to Dr. Gerona, the growth and development of NCF show that “NCF is gearing towards the attainment of the ideals that academics hold—the expansion of more academic opportunities and exploring more avenues for learning where people learn boundless information, enjoy as they learn, and think freely” while integrating the concepts of “universitas,” “escola,” “humanitates,” and “artes liberales.”
Mr. Salvosa, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to NCF for realizing his longtime dream of establishing an exhibit in Bicol for Bicolanos to see and appreciate his works. He added that this may serve as an opportunity for people to recognize and respect artists like him.
Furthermore, present at the said affair were members of the Villanueva clan, Atty. Carlo P. Villanueva, Jr., Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, other members of the Board of Trustees, Mr. George Gabriel J. Bordado VII, son of Congressman Gabriel H. Bordado, guests from various academic institutions, and other school officials and personnel.
