Wearing their sophisticated suits and gowns, employees of Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF) gathered for a gala night to celebrate the decades-long achievements and contributions of NCF and its
stakeholders in education and community on March 4, 2023, at NCF Grounds, as a concluding part of the 76th founding anniversary celebration.
Mr. Mario C. Villanueva, NCF President, emphasized in his speech that the present challenge and target of NCF are “continuous growth and sustainability.”
“Growth is not a measurement of success… Growth should be coupled with sustainability. Sustainability and growth in enrollment, employment, and infrastructure,” President Villanueva stated.
As NCF pursued its academic expansion and intensification, President Villanueva unveiled to the employees the newly-created Institute for Innovation and Continuing Education (I-ICE), composed of professionals within the institution who ought to develop and implement programs for continuing education, knowledge exploration, and upskilling in the fields of agriculture technology, engineering, health sciences, management and development, research and extension, robotics and technology, rural entrepreneurship and economic development, specialized programs and TEDx, sports, culture, and the arts, as well as typhoon preparedness.
Villanueva rationalized that “innovation is a key to maintaining competitive advantage and an edge in developing new products, services, and processes.” He then challenged the employees to establish legacies and continuously grow at NCF as the institution approaches a new era of challenges.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aida P. Osea, Vice President for Academic Affairs, presented the Gawad Banyuhay for Resiliency to President Villanueva. This award was being conferred by the Dr. Carl E. Balita Foundation, Inc., to exceptional individuals who have shown resiliency amid the pandemic.
19 other employees were also recognized by the institution for reaching five, ten, and twenty-five years of full-time dedication, loyalty, and service to the institution.
Engr. Geronimo A. Buenavente, Education Supervisor II of CHED Regional Office V and former Dean of the College of Engineering, and Dr. Benigno B. Literal, former professor of the College of Criminal Justice Education, were granted Retirement Recognition Awards for their 29 and 24 years of service, respectively.
