Reaching out to other academic institutions to exercise academic practices in the cognitive domain, Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF) held an academic quiz competition titled “Tigers Cup 2023” on March 2, 2023, at The Quad.
NCF sent invitations to over forty basic education institutions in the region, but only Magarao National
High School (MNHS), Pili National High School (PNHS), Don Servillano Platon Memorial National High School (DSPMNHS), Antipolo National High School (ANHS), San Fernando National High School (SFNHS), and Gainza National High School (GNHS) accepted the challenge.
Vying for the coveted championship title with 100% tuition discount, six teams composed of three 12th grade students each flaunted their intellectual capabilities in five learning areas, namely, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Studies, English, and Filipino.
After a nail-biting four-round competition, the students from Pili National High School (PNHS) sustained their academic excellence and successfully clinched the championship title.
Meanwhile, in an interview, Lorebell Boceron, a winning participant from PNHS, and Mr. Manuel E. Balona, coach of the participating team from ANHS, extended their gratitude to NCF for initiating a “good [learning] experience for the students,” as well as the “opportunities for the students to showcase their talents.”
“Thanks to NCF for providing opportunity to those of us who are not financially capable of studying in college. NCF (through this event) assured us that we will now have a higher academic institution that will accommodate us,” Boceron added in Filipino.
The participants from DSPMNHS secured the second spot and won 75% tuition discount, while the ANHS ended in third place and won 50% tuition discount. Though they fell short of attaining the places in the competition, participants from MNHS, SFNHS, and GNHS will still receive a 25% tuition discount.
Furthermore, all tuition discounts are effective for one academic year only (academic year 2023-2024) upon the enrollment of the participants.
