𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: With an aim to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Melchor Trinidad Villanueva Sr., the founder and first president of Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF), the entire NCF community offers a Eucharistic Mass today, January 6, 2023, at The Quad.
The Rev. Fr. Fidel Mamerto A. Bagayaua, who presides over the Holy Mass, centers his homily on the quest of the three magi who follow a star and come to pay homage to the baby Jesus in Bethlehem, namely, Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar. According to Rev. Fr. Bagayaua, Lolo Mel, like King Melchior, “offers a gift as precious as gold: education.” He then shared that “Villanueva”, which means “new state” in Spanish, reflects the NCF as a state “where new learning can happen.”
“I believe that NCF, as Lolo Mel’s legacy, is the task of faith, the fruit of hope, and the labor of love,” Rev. Fr. Bagayaua concluded.
Moreover, present during the Holy Mass are Lolo Mel’s children, Ms. Emerita V. Padua, former Vice President for Finance, and Mr. Benjamin Villanueva, Senior Adviser. Mr. Mario C. Villanueva, NCF President; Dr. Roger P. Villanueva, Chief Finance Officer; Dr. Aida P. Osea, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Ms. Teenarose O. Castroverde, Vice President for Administrative and Institutional Affairs; and Dr. Nelba O. Olaso, Vice President for Sports, Culture, and the Arts; members and employees of the executive, administrative, finance, and academic divisions, as well as other members of the Villanueva family, also attended the mass.
