𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: After the series of crucial training and exposure in learning laboratories, a total of 34 trainees of Batches 5 and 6 of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program of Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF) congregated for their completion rites on Monday, November 7, 2022, at ST Auditorium.
In his opening talk, Mr. Roy B. Fabay, Director of Education Support Services, emphasized that the rationale for the implementation of the CNA program is the “necessity for the supplemental hospital staff who are caring, nurturing, and affecting”— aside from establishing the opportunities for learning and employment.
Aiming to augment the labor force in the health sector in the Philippines, NCF launched the CNA program early this year through Mr. Melvin Del Puerto, a member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of NCF, who pitched the CNA program as an Education Extension Program (EEP) to the BOT, wherein NCF is the first and the only academe in the Philippines offering CNA program, adopted from health practices in America.
Meanwhile, Mr. Amer De Castro, Assistant Director of the Mother Seton Hospital, graced the ceremony with his presence as the commencement speaker. De Castro inspired the trainees with his talk about the significance of “learning, loving, and having faith” in the health profession as he considered the CNAs as “hopes amidst difficulties”.
NCF President Mario C. Villanueva revealed that NCF is yet to launch other education extension programs related to agriculture, technology, and computer science, following the implementation of NCF-WINGS and CNA— the education extension programs in tourism and medicine, respectively.
Furthermore, Mr. Melvin Del Puerto and Mr. Jose Ariel B. Bañares, Program Coordinator of Center for Healthcare Associates were also seen at the ceremony.
